The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s 2026 Winter Gala brings classical music, Latin colour and Broadway drama together at Hamer Hall under Chief Conductor Jaime Martín, with Melbourne-born soprano and international opera star Danielle de Niese.
The program travels from Buenos Aires to Broadway. It features Ginastera’s Variaciones Concertantes and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, alongside favourites from Candide, Wonderful Town and West Side Story, Gershwin’s Cuban Overture and I Got Rhythm, and songs by Cole Porter and Jerome Kern. Danielle de Niese joins the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for selections including A Little Bit in Love, I Feel Pretty, I Hate Men, I Get a Kick Out of You and Can’t Help Loving That Man of Mine.
Performances are at Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne, 100 St Kilda Road, Southbank: Thursday 30 July 2026 at 7:30pm and Saturday 1 August 2026 at 2pm. Each concert runs for approximately 1 hour 50 minutes, including a 20-minute interval. Free pre-concert talks take place in the Hamer Hall Stalls Foyer at 6:45pm on 30 July and 1:15pm on 1 August.
Tickets start from $20 for children and people under 18. Mob Tix are $25, concession tickets range from $76 to $134, and standard tickets range from $81 to $139; an $8 transaction fee applies per order. Book through the official MSO ticket page. The performance is suitable for a broad music and theatre audience, including families with children old enough to enjoy a full-length concert.
