Be Who You Are: Collaborative Doll Workshop for Children
Bring a doll—or use one provided—and give it a fabulous 1970s fashion makeover! 👗🧵
Artist and teacher Yasmin Gaté née del Mar guides children through designing garments and accessories with fabric, paper and upcycled materials. Participants can experiment with bold retro style while learning how draping, layering and embellishment can completely transform a character’s look. 🌈✨
Young designers will:
👀 Explore colourful 1970s fashion inspiration
🧵 Experiment with fabric, paper and upcycled materials
✂️ Design tiny garments and accessories
✨ Try draping, layering, embellishment and optional simple stitching
🖼️ Add their finished fashion piece to a collaborative installation that grows throughout the exhibition
Children may bring a favourite doll from home or work with one supplied at the workshop. Low-temperature glue guns are used under supervision, helping young makers safely bring more ambitious ideas to life.
Suitable for ages 6–10, with a parent or carer required to remain. The workshop runs from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Sunday 15 November 2026. Tickets are $7, all materials are supplied and advance booking is required. Come ready to celebrate creativity, individuality and wonderfully bold style! 💃🎟️
