Spend a sublime Sunday morning with leading Melbourne Symphony Orchestra string players in a chamber program that contrasts two modern works with Brahms. David Lang's bittersweet Wed moves between consonance and dissonance, Caroline Shaw's Plan and Elevation draws on the architecture and gardens of Dumbarton Oaks, and Brahms' String Quintet No. 2 brings playful rhythms, melancholy and Hungarian folk colour.
Performers are violinists Matthew Tomkins and Freya Franzen, violists Jenny Khafagi and Fiona Sargeant, and cellist Rachael Tobin. The concert begins at 11:00am on Sunday 20 September 2026 at Iwaki Auditorium, ABC Southbank Centre, 120–130 Southbank Boulevard, Southbank.
