Children's Play: Ragnar Kjartansson

Children's Play: Ragnar Kjartansson is a free NGV Kids exhibition that invites families into a playful world inspired by theatrical feasts, banquet halls and stages. Young visitors can become actors, storytellers and creators by drawing, inventing characters, choosing costumes and props, performing stories, and stacking colourful cushions into giant cake sculptures. Created for all ages, the exhibition encourages creativity, free expression, theatre and imaginative play. It is open daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm through Sunday 4 October 2026 in the Children's Gallery on the ground level of NGV International, 180 St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Entry is free and general booking is not required. NGV provides a photographic sensory guide and map, information about facilities for families, and bookable Relaxed Sessions with fewer visitors and reduced sensory stimuli. Listed Relaxed Sessions are Saturday 5 September, 8:00–10:00am, and Tuesday 22 September, 5:30–7:30pm. Contact enquiries@ngv.vic.gov.au for access planning.
