Indigenous Science Experience at Redfern Community Open Day

The Indigenous Science Experience at Redfern Community Open Day is a free National Science Week event showcasing Indigenous and Western STEM and their importance in everyday life. The all-ages program invites visitors to yarn with Elders about bush foods and medicines, explore seaweeds used for environmental sustainability, learn about native bees and healthy ecosystems, see cultural performances connected to the natural world, try weaving, experience Torres Strait Islander virtual reality, and take part in physics and chemistry activities. Presenters include South Coast Seaweed, Bush to Bowl, Indigibee, Yaegl Elders, BirdLife Southern NSW, the National Indigenous Science Education Program and cultural performer Rayma Johnson. The event runs on Saturday 22 August 2026 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Redfern Community Centre, 29-53 Hugo Street, Redfern. Admission is free and advance tickets are available through Humanitix.
