Matsuri Brisbane 2026

Matsuri Brisbane 2026 is a free, all-ages celebration of Japanese culture marking the 50th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia. The festival expects more than 30,000 visitors and presents a full day of Taiko drumming, Awa Odori, Yosakoi, Bon Odori, J-Pop, martial arts demonstrations and other cultural performances. Visitors can try traditional games such as Kendama and Super Ball Scoop, browse Japanese food and cultural stalls, and take part in displays and workshops covering Ikebana, calligraphy and tea ceremony; a licensed bar area is also planned. The event runs on Saturday 5 September 2026 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Whites Hill State College, 138 Burn Street, Camp Hill. Entry is free, but advance booking through Eventbrite is required.
