Ngarn Wa'ngal: Art of the Gum Tree

Ngarn Wa'ngal: Art of the Gum Tree invites visitors to explore the eucalypt as a source of artistic inspiration and a tree of deep cultural and ecological significance. Translating as “breathing for us” in Woi Wurrung, the exhibition spans three floors and brings together more than 160 colonial, twentieth-century and contemporary works, including new commissions. It opens conversations about identity, sovereignty, climate and continuity and is suited to art audiences, families, students and visitors interested in Australian culture and the environment. The exhibition is at the Potter Museum of Art, Masson Road, Parkville, until Saturday 21 November 2026. It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm. Admission is free and booking is not required. Reported access features include accessible toilets, assisted listening, blind and low-vision supports, Companion Card acceptance, mobility access and additional accessible features.
