Organ Gala

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra returns to Melbourne Town Hall in its 120th-anniversary year for a Grand Organ Festival gala showcasing the venue’s four-storey Grand Organ. Emilia Hoving conducts and British-Australian organist Joseph Nolan is featured in Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, the “Organ” Symphony. The wide-ranging program also includes Ginastera’s Estancia: Four Dances, Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1, Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 and the Nocturne from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream—one of the first works the MSO performed at the Town Hall more than a century ago. The combination of orchestral dance music, operatic drama and the full power of the Grand Organ will appeal to classical audiences, architecture and heritage enthusiasts, organ devotees and newcomers. Performances are at Melbourne Town Hall, 90–130 Swanston Street, Melbourne VIC 3000: Thursday 3 September 2026 at 7:30pm and Saturday 5 September 2026 at 2:00pm. Duration is approximately two hours, including a 20-minute interval. Tickets: Standard $45–$105; Concession $40–$100; Child under 18 $20; Mob Tix $25. An $8 transaction fee applies per order.
