Secondary students can go behind the scenes with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and conductor Jonathon Heyward to discover how musicians and a conductor shape a performance in rehearsal. Designed for Years 7-12, the session reveals the orchestra's working process and gives school groups a practical way to explore concert preparation, ensemble communication and audience behaviour. The rehearsal program and exact finishing time remain at the conductor's discretion.
Wednesday 14 October 2026 at 10:00am, Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne. Approximate duration: 60 minutes, though the finish may vary.
All student and teacher tickets are $9. Schools and registered homeschooling families must submit the official booking-request form; a request is not a confirmed order, and the MSO Box Office will respond within five business days. Final attendee numbers and payment are due two weeks before the event. Parent, guardian or third-party requests require written school approval. Hamer Hall is wheelchair, walker and scooter accessible; assistive listening devices are available; and service animals are permitted. Schools can include access requirements in the request form.
