Science in the Swamp 2026 is a free National Science Week family day presented by Greater Sydney Parklands at Centennial Park. More than 40 stalls, shows and hands-on activities connect science with the natural world through experiments, robotics, wildlife encounters and live demonstrations.
Highlights include the UNSW Science Village, life-sized and baby dinosaurs, Creative Science live shows, safe daytime solar-telescope viewing, native animal encounters, a live bee observation hive, ranger-led nature play and bushcraft, giant bubbles, and opportunities to meet scientists. Everyone is welcome, with activities especially designed for school-aged children.
The event runs on Sunday 16 August 2026 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Dickens Lawn, Loch Avenue South, Centennial Park. Admission is free and no ticket or registration is required. Parking is limited and public transport is recommended. Accessible parking is available for visitors who identify themselves to traffic controllers and present a valid mobility parking permit.
