Summer in St Kilda gets a giant free soundtrack at one of Australia's longest-running community music festivals. The foreshore and surrounding streets come alive with multiple stages, local and emerging artists, First Peoples programming, street performers, family entertainment, market stalls, food, carnival energy and thousands of happy festival-goers soaking up the bayside atmosphere.
St Kilda Festival returns on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February 2027. Its two-day format traditionally includes dedicated First Peoples programming and a huge Big Festival Sunday, with the full 2027 artist and stage schedule to be announced. Entry is free and no general-admission ticket is required, although some special activities may have separate conditions.
The event welcomes all ages. Large crowds, road closures and changing stage conditions are part of the experience, so families should plan meeting points and check the official transport and access information before travelling. Accessible viewing, toilets and services vary across the large outdoor precinct; use the official festival website for the latest access map, program and travel advice.
