Sydney Science Trail: Community Day at the Australian Museum
Sydney Science Trail: Community Day is a one-day National Science Week celebration at the Australian Museum, hosted by Surfing Scientist Ruben Meerman. The museum-wide program includes more than 15 interactive activities for kids of all ages, live science shows, hands-on displays, appearances by Winny the resident dinosaur, and chances to meet Australian Museum Research Institute scientists and explore their favourite objects.
The event runs on Saturday 15 August 2026 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Australian Museum, corner of William and College Streets, Sydney. General entry is free, but registration for a morning or afternoon session is required through the Australian Museum website.
Free activities include the Let's Go! Science Show, Science Showcase, Garrigarang tours, tabletop science, stick insects, weaving and scientist encounters. Optional paid add-ons cost $8 for Museum members or $10 for non-members, including the Science Expo, Robotics in Action, Bug-Tastic workshop and a beginner nature-photography workshop; age and supervision conditions vary by activity. The event page does not specify event-specific accessibility arrangements, so visitors with access requirements should check with the Australian Museum before registering.
