Kindred People opens with Tanderrum dambali, an Indigenous-led ceremonial gathering on Boonwurrung Country for audiences of all ages. The event begins at Megan Cope’s Weelam Ngalut (Our Place) sculpture with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, then audiences move together in procession to Robert Blackwood Hall. The 90-minute program honours Knowledge Holders, Elders and community and invites families and the wider public to listen, learn and share in cultural strengthening and allyship. Entry is free and registration is not required. The outdoor starting point has no fixed seating, but seating can be arranged on request; attendees with accessibility requirements should contact the MPAC box office before visiting. Please arrive before 4pm and follow venue staff for the procession.
